A team of researchers from The University of Queensland investigated if alternative sweeteners promoted plasmid-mediated conjugative transfer in both environmental and clinical settings.

Using Sound to Induce Methylation Changes in Plants 🌱🧬🔊

A team of scientists at the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, proved that sound can cause physiological changes through epigenetic modifications in plants. They exposed plants to the sound frequency observed when a natural pathogen of those plants, Ralstonia solanacearum, chews on their leaves, without letting the pathogen chew on that plant. As a control, they also set up a plant that was being chewed upon by R. solanacearum. They measured the methylation and acetylation (forms of epigenetic modifications), before and after the exposure to the sound frequency, and the pathogen itself, respectively.
