A team of researchers from the University of Nottingham have identified a plant based antiviral drug, named thapsigargin, triggers a highly effective broad-spectrum host-centered antiviral innate immune response against COVID-19 and two other major types of respiratory viruses. Thapsigargin is a naturally occurring compound isolated from the umbelliferous plant Thapsia garganica.
